A couple times of Year J Cogliandro Photography chooses to donate its time and resources to organizations or people who cannot afford quality photographic services.  These people or organizations are doing extraordinary things in our community and/or are struggling with life in ways that most of us can only imagine.  Our goal is to provide first class imagery for free in order to further their cause or just be an encouragement at a difficult time.  This October we teamed up with Spectrum of Hope in Cypress/Houston to photograph a Halloween event being held for children with Autism who attend their school.   All I can say is wow!! Check out these beautiful children full of life and wonder, whose lives have been affected in great measures by the staff at Spectrum of Hope.

Here is a little bit more about Autism and Spectrum of Hope.  To see and read more please visit their website.

"Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain, impacting development in the areas of social interaction and communication skills. Both children and adults with autism typically show difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions, and leisure or play activities.

Typically developing children learn without our intervention--the world around them provides the right conditions to learn language, play, and social skills. Children with autism learn much, much less easily from the environment. They have the potential to learn, but it takes a very structured environment, one where conditions are optimized for acquiring the same skills that typical children learn "naturally." ABA is all about how to set up the environment to enable our kids to learn.

Spectrum of Hope provides superior applied behavior analysis intervention and treatment (ABA) to children in the Houston area diagnosed with behavioral and developmental disorders, delays, and syndromes such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Language/Communication delays/disorders and Attention Deficit Disorders, among others." -  Spectrum of Hope Homepage

You have done something so great! Looking at the pictures, I saw so much! I saw the love and the caring and the understanding these kids get at Spectrum of Hope. We drive everyday from Katy to Cypress just to have our son Herie in a place that we know they care so much about him as we do. You know Herie. You are like family to us and have been witness of all the progress our little pirate has accomplish. We are so blessed to have Spectrum of Hope in our lives and to have you and Janette walking with us through this difficult and unpredictable journey called Autism. We love you guys!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to venture out to our little school and to help show the world just how amazing and beautiful and brilliant all of our students are. I am a therapist at Spectrum of Hope and seeing each and every photo of all the children who fill my life so fully every single day took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes. This is a great thing you've done for our families and for our school... thank you!
