Beautiful. That is the word I would use to describe their relationship. So easy and comfortable with each other. We photographed their engagements in West Houston out in Fulshear. I am very excited to be working with Belle of the Ball again for Lindsay and Daniel’s wedding!
Here’s their full story in Lindsay’s words…
How They Met:
In a nutshell, we were set up by a mutual friend. I was roommates with her when we studied abroad in Spain, and Daniel was best friends with her brother. We were both seniors at Baylor and had hung out in group settings a few times, but really didn’t know each other. My roommate talked to each of us separately about how she thought we would get along great. After I told her I would accept if he asked, Daniel asked me to get frozen yogurt with him…and the rest is history!
The Engagement:
I spent two weeks in Hawaii with my family for Christmas and we got back the morning of New Year’s Eve. Daniel picked us up from the airport and said he had to go to work for a little while, but would call me when he was done. We were planning on going out to Houston Oaks Country Club, where his parents have a membership, for some wine and then meet my parents for dinner.
I took a nap and called him when I woke up. He said he was leaving work and to come over at 5:00. I was a little annoyed because that meant I had to drive an hour round trip and would only be at Houston Oaks for an hour. It is only by the grace of God that I let it drop because if I’d been in the right mood, I would have put up a stink about it.
We pulled up to Houston Oaks and there were no cars. I commented on how either people didn’t want to come out there for New Year’s Eve or they just weren’t coming till later. We started walking to the pavilion and I saw a fire lit in the fireplace and table cloths on the tables. I told Daniel they must be having a private party out there later in the evening since it was still early. I kept telling him I didn’t think we should go in. He said something about how it was fine and we kept walking.
As we got closer, you could see an aisle of candles with rose petals scattered in the middle. Daniel just kept walking. As we got up to it, I said, “This is not for us! I’m not walking on those petals!” He kept walking straight ahead, so it occurred to me… he’d planned a sweet date to welcome me home. I said, “Did you do this?” He nodded yes. This kind of made me want to cry because being romantic does not come naturally for Daniel. A few days before, he’d mentioned he might have them light a fire, so I thought he’d gone above and beyond to make it a romantic date.
About the time all that processed through my head, we got to the end of the aisle and I noticed the words written on the floor… “Lindsay, Will you marry me?” I stopped dead in my tracks, he got down on one knee, and I threw my face into my hands and started crying. Poor thing had to ask me to look at him because I was just standing there with my face in my hands crying. He proposed, I said, “yes,” and after a minute or two, our parents and a few family and friends came out to help us celebrate.
It was a COMPLETE surprise and more than I could have ever imagined!
